Dominique & Andrew Tied the Knot at Terrigal Crowne Plaza, Central Coast
I clearly still remember when I got an email from Andrew inquiring about their Wedding Date, I was traveling to Asia and photographing another Happy Ever After. I it took me awhile to get back to them as wifi is not quite reliable in Asia. Because I was traveling heavily from island to island It took me a week to respond about my availability, luckily they waited for my response and I got a chance to pitch my services to them.
Six months after I met Dom and Andrew in person to discuss about their wedding detail, I was shaking with excitement as this was my very first Same Sex Wedding in the books. You see Same Sex Wedding became legal only January 2018, and I have been itching to get my first for quite sometime, and it did and I was so excited. Andrew and Dom expressed that they wanted a no fuss wedding ceremony and it will be simple surrounded with over 75 close family and friends and they wanted it documented in a photojournalistic manner.
The couple chose Terrigal Crown Plaza for their Ceremony and Reception. I got white excited as this venue has an amazing architecture for the couple shoot right after their ceremony. The couple decided to gather close family and friends to join them for their pre wedding toast at the couple Suite at the Crowne then we headed off to the family shoot at Lord Ashley's room.
The Ceremony was officiated by Lachlan Bowtell- Authorised Marriage Celebrant and was witnessed by close family and friends, the reception took place in the same venue as their ceremony. Lachlan also gifted the couple their own personal Marriage Candle and had suggested that they light it up every anniversary, which is quite a sweet and romantic idea.
It was the Mother of Andrew who first stood up after the couple was officially married and threw confetti at the newly wed couple.
The couple had Ring Barers which included all nephew and nieces on both sides, all were very well behaved an on queue. Sean Frazer, Singer and Songwriter. It was such an intimate ceremony with Dom's Mother taking the mic and had relayed what Marriage is all about in the middle of the ceremony.
Heatfelt speeches were delivered in an emotional manner expressing their joy that their Brother, Friend, Uncle, Son and Best Friends can finally say YES! The couple also took the Mike for the final speech and had credited and honoured the LGBT generation before them who was forced to remain silent, taken off their rights to marry and had to suffer years of discrimination letting them know that they are acknowledged and celebrated on the this special day.
The party than began with lots of toasts, drinks and everyone danced the night away as I snuck out a few minutes before midnight before my carriage turns into a pumpkin.
Thank you Dom and Andrew for having me document your special day and it was an honour to be a part of this celebration.
