Stephanie and Jamie are getting married!
I met Jamie and Stephanie in Bali, Indonesia when I was photographing a Destination Wedding where Steph was a Bridesmaid of her cousin Jessica's Wedding two years ago. I remember clearly during the wedding rehearsal where Jamie was holding a tiny bubbie named Hayden, he was only three months old then.
A year ago I got a phone call about my availability third week of October 2018 as they have set their Wedding Date! I was beyond excited to shoot another Destination Wedding taking place at the beautiful Port Macquarie.
We have set the "getting to know you" session where they can be in front of my lens in a stress free setting, we could discuss and experiment on angles and styles so that when the Wedding Day comes both parties know what to expect from each other. Jamie and Steph knew what they wanted in their Engagement Session, they wanted to include the love of their lives Hayden. The couple have been together for nine years and they could not imagine having a shoot without their little trophy.
So I have customised their session where I could incorporate them as a family as well as a couple! I have suggested Fagan Park in Galston as it is half way from both of our homes. It was the perfect day (aside from it being windy) as the sun was out.
Hayden just woke up from a nap and was ready for his shoot in the beginning but in the end he did engage with me, I asked Steph to bring some of this toys and anything familiar to him to give him that sense of security and familiarity.
The couple met at TAFE, and when I asked both of them who was attracted to who first, Jamie jumped right in and said "she was definitely in love with me right away!" and Steph didn't have time to argue. Spending the afternoon with these two was just an amazing experience, the two can't get enough of each other after nine years of being together! Stephanie was whispering sweet words and all I hear while clicking the shutter was Jamie saying "AWWWWW that's so sweet of you", they were like little high school kids so madly in love with each other after all those years. True love and soul mates do exsist!
I have set the session at 3:30pm to give it more time to warm up to each other (we haven't seen each other after the Wedding in Bali) and to avoid rushing into to shoots. I have already checked that sunset is at 5:54pm that day so I have from 4:54pm-5:45pm to take the Magic Hour romantic shots of the two of them.
Equipped with the Golden Hour and the sun was just phenomenal that day, Steph and Jamie was very playful with each other and I didn't even have to tell them an action or to do anything, they just naturally fell into a great pose with very minimal instructions.
I have already composed the Hero Shot of the session before we even began their photo session! See photo below:
It was indeed one of my favourite sessions, the trust they have in me made such a great difference where they were just open to any suggestion I have! The best phrase I got from Steph (telling Jamie) was "Let's give the woman what she wants!!!" yelling with excitement!
